*LAGOS SET TO REOPEN ECONOMY, COMMENCES REGISTER-TO-OPEN INITIATIVE* The Director-General, Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola has disclosed that the Commission is set to begin the Register-To-Open initiative of the State Government. FG Considers Morning, Afternoon Classes For School Reopening The Federal Government says it is thinking of sectionalising classes for primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions in the country ahead of school reopening amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, stated this on Wednesday during a briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja. The minister, who faulted the reports that schools would reopen in the country on June 8, said the government could not afford to take any costly risk, especially as it regards the safety of pupils and students in the country. INEC starts electronic voting 2021 in wake of Covid-19 The Independent National Electoral Commission says it will introduce electronic voting (e-voting) in off-season elections starting in 2021. This is contained in a 17-page “Policy on Conducting Elections in the Context of the Covid-19 Pandemic” released on Monday in Abuja and signed by the INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu. The policy covers health and legal issues, election planning and operations, election day and post-election activities, voter registration, political parties, election observation, electoral security and deployment of technology in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Continue to make available its electronic channels for voters to check their registration status. Honourable Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa has rubbishes a report publish by Sahara Reporters that he has 64 bank accounts linked to his Bank Verification Number, (BVN). Sahara Reporters, in its reports claimed that 64 bank accounts have been discovered to be linked to the Bank Verification Number of Obasa and registered with various names, allegedly being used to siphon public funds in Lagos. But the speaker on Saturday night said the story was all fabricated and that he did not have such accounts linked to BVN, as claimed by Sahara Reporters.
