 Lagos State Hosts One-Day Mentoring Program for Female Footballers

On August 10, 2024, the Lagos State Football Association organized a one-day mentoring program for female footballers at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan. This initiative, spearheaded by the Female Football Development Committee of the association, aimed to foster a sustainable and enriching football environment for women in the sport.The mentoring program was designed to empower female athletes by providing them with valuable insights and guidance from experienced professionals in the football industry.

 Participants had the opportunity to engage with mentors who shared their knowledge and experiences, helping to inspire the next generation of female footballers.The event featured a series of workshops and interactive sessions that covered various aspects of football, including skill development, career planning, and personal branding by focusing on these key areas, the program sought to equip female players with the tools they need to succeed both on and off the field.


Hon. Adebanji Atewogboye, also known as SKIBANJ, who serves as the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Grassroots Sports, alongside Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, the Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the event highlighted the governor's unwavering commitment to the development of sports in Lagos State, with a particular focus on promoting gender inclusion and empowering young female athletes.

Recently, over 300 talented young girls from the five divisions of Lagos State took part in a groundbreaking program designed to prepare them for the upcoming National Youth Games scheduled for September. This initiative not only highlights the importance of nurturing athletic talent among young women but also underscores the commitment of local leadership to fostering an inclusive environment for sports.

As the National Youth Games approach, the excitement among the participants is palpable,they are not only competing for medals but also for the chance to showcase their skills and passion for the game. The experience gained from this program will undoubtedly serve them well, whether they continue to pursue football or explore other avenues in sports.
