Excitement galore as Sporty Lagos 2.0 thrills participants with unlimited fun

EXCITEMENT, FULFILMENT, LOVE, UNITY DISPLAYED AT SPORTY LAGOS 2.0

Sporty Lagos 2.0, a vibrant event organized by the Lagos State government through the office of Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Grassroot Sport, Mr. Adebanji Atewogboye, was a resounding success. Held at Rowe Park Sports complex on December 21, 2024, the event overflowed with fun and excitement for participants of all ages. 

Over 1500 spectators and participants from across the state converged at the event, creating a vibrant atmosphere of camaraderie and sportsmanship. This sporting fiesta saw enthusiastic sports lovers participate in a diverse range of events, including football, table tennis, chess, ayo, ludo, and taekwondo. The competitive spirit was fierce, with over #1,000,000 in cash prizes awarded to the winners. 


However, Sporty Lagos 2.0 was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of sportsmanship and community spirit. The event ensured that everyone went home a winner, with gifts distributed to all attendees, highlighting the event's focus on inclusivity and participation.  



Adding to the festive atmosphere, talented individuals showcased their artistic skills, entertaining the crowd with live musical performances. This further enhanced the event's glamour and provided a platform for local talent to shine.

Mr. Adebanji Atewogboye, Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Grassroots Sports, expressed his gratitude to all attendees, including officials from the Lagos State government and ministries. He emphasized the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration's unwavering commitment to promoting social cohesion and development through grassroots sports, aligning with its vision for a more united and prosperous Lagos. 

"The Sporty Lagos initiative aims to promote grassroots sports development, social cohesion, and community engagement in Lagos. It's part of Governor Sanwo-Olu's efforts to reduce crime rates, violence, and social vices, while fostering love and unity among Lagosians during the festive season."



The event was graced by the presence of prominent dignitaries, including the Financial Secretary of APC Lagos, Hon. Asipa Wasiu Doyin Banjo, Hon. Gbolahan Iyen Ma Nice, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sanwo-Olu on Housing, Hon. Ayodeji Amodu, SSA Sports Mr Damilare Orimoloye, SS Sports Marketing & Admin Mr Onaope Adu, and a host of Lagos State Sports Associations coaches led by Tina Omogbai (weightlifting/tug of war coach),Kazeem Oniga (Ayo Olopon coach), Lateef Olabode (Sitting volleyball/table tennis coach),Olayiwola Alimi (Basketball coach),Lawal (table tennis coach), Eduwale Hakeem (king Chess coach),Ahmed Dikko (five aside football/handball coach), Ogunowo Peace (Taekwondo coach), Amadi Leslie (Aerobics/egg and spoon coach),Segun Ibrahim (Boxing coach),Ahmed Sulaimon (Snooker/hockey coach),Gbenga Adekanhunsi (tug of war/judo coach) 



Their presence further highlighted the importance of the event and underscored the government's dedication to fostering a thriving sports culture in Lagos.

Sporty Lagos 2.0 received widespread praise for its enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Participants and spectators alike commended Governor Sanwo-Olu and the organizers for a successful event that brought together the community and promoted a love of sports. 


The event was a testament to the power of sports to unite people, inspire healthy competition, and foster a sense of community. Sporty Lagos 2.0 is a shining example of the Lagos State government's commitment to grassroots development and the creation of a brighter future for all Lagosians.
