 Grassroots Football Festival Lights Up Oshodi as 1x Sports CEO Calls Fans to Action

The CEO of 1x Sports and Technical Director, Waheed Akanni, has urged football lovers across Lagos state to troop out in their numbers to witness the thrilling third edition of the grassroots football tournament currently underway at the Inspire Academy Sports Arena (formerly NITEL Playing Ground), Cappa, Oshodi.

The fast-rising competition has attracted over 620 grassroots football teams, making it one of the largest community tournaments in Nigeria. Speaking with our correspondent, Akanni described the tournament as a celebration of raw talent and football artistry, calling on fans from Oshodi, Mushin, Ladipo,Ikeja, Agege, Iyana-Ipaja, Isolo, Ejigbo, Ilasa, and beyond to join the excitement.

With a mouthwatering grand prize of ₦20 million awaiting the champions, the tournament has already produced spectacular encounters in the group stage. Matches are played every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 12:00 pm and 5:45 pm, with three games lined up daily.


Highlights from today’s matches include:


ISAGT edging past Soccer Cardinal by a lone goal.

Vincco Energy overpowering Brighton FC in a 4–2 thriller.

36 Lions and Collins Edwin FC settling for a goalless draw.

Football fans are promised maximum security, free entry, exciting side attractions, and gifts, alongside a chance to witness the future stars of Nigerian football in action.
