The thrills of 1XCUP 2025 continued this week with tension, excitement, and flashes of brilliance as teams battled fiercely to secure maximum points and keep their quarter-final dreams alive.

The day’s opening fixture was a Group B showdown between G. Innovation FC and ECAS FC, a tightly contested encounter decided by a single goal in favour of G. Innovation. The hard-earned victory lifts G. Innovation to five points from four games, while ECAS remains on three points. With Ikorodu City already sealing the top spot in the group with eight points, the battle for second place is wide open. G. Innovation’s fate now hangs in the balance, while the clash between Emaljus FC and Young Strikers FC next week promises to be a make-or-break affair. A draw could doom both sides, while a win for either will send shockwaves through the group standings.



In Group C, Utility Sports FC and ISAGT Athletics produced an enthralling contest that ended in a 1–1 stalemate. The game was filled with flair and high-level skill, capped by late drama as ISAGT missed a penalty in the dying minutes. Despite the heartbreak, the group is now settled, with ISAGT Athletics finishing top on seven points and Utility Sports FC securing qualification with four points. Against all odds, both teams have booked their tickets to the last eight.

The day’s final fixture came in Group D, where Divine praise FC finally earned their first win of the tournament with a three goal drilling of rhe whipping boys of the group , Brighton Fc with no point .

The victory was a hollow one, as both teams had already crashed out of contention. Divine praises fc ended with four points, while Brighton fc bowed out with neither a draw or win . 

Inspire Sports remained unshaken at the summit with nine points, but all eyes now turn to next week’s blockbuster tie: Vinmos Energy (7 points) versus Benthel Sporting FC( 6 points ) The stakes couldn’t be higher— a draw will push Benthel sporting fc to third, while a win will level them with the leaders on points, leaving goal difference to decide positions. A victory for Vinmos, however, will see them storm to the top with 10 points.
