Barely days after the curtain fell on the 2025 edition of the 1xCup Grassroots Football Tournament, organizers have confirmed that all winners and award recipients have received their full cash prizes, totaling ₦20 million, courtesy of 1XBET, the tournament’s headline sponsor.
The CEO and Technical Director of the 1xCup, Engr. Waidi Akanni, made this announcement in Lagos, expressing deep appreciation to 1XBET for once again fulfilling its sponsorship commitments for the second consecutive year.
“Promise made, promise kept,” Akanni remarked, noting that the sponsors’ prompt payment reaffirms their credibility and dedication to grassroots football growth in Nigeria.
Champions Ikorodu City Football Academy, who went unbeaten throughout the competition, walked away with the ₦10 million grand prize after edging ISAGT FC 1–0 in the thrilling final at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos Island. Emmanuel Okeh’s decisive strike sealed the victory for the Ikorodu Oga Boys, while ISAGT FC earned ₦5 million as runners-up in what has been described as the biggest grassroots football event in Nigeria.
Beyond the team awards, several individual accolades were also honoured. Uche Emeribe (Vinmo Energy FC) claimed the Top Scorer Award with five goals, while Adewale Quadri (Natt Boys FC) earned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) honour. Wellington Egor (Ikorodu City FA) was named Best Coach, and Abdullahi Sulaiman (Ikorodu City FA) received the Best Goalkeeper Award. Each awardee went home with ₦300,000 cash prizes, while Ikorodu City FA also clinched the Team of the Tournament, and Dosu Joseph FC was recognized for delivering the Highlight Performance of the Tournament.
He confirmed that planning for the 2026 edition of the 1xCup will commence immediately, promising an even bigger and more entertaining tournament next year.
He concluded that the vision remains clear — to make 1xCup the ultimate platform for grassroots football and a model for talent development across Africa.
