FIRSTBANK SPORTY LAGOS 3.0 RECORDS GRAND SUCCESS AT ROWE PARK
Oshodi-born lawmaker hails grassroots sports vision as talents, games, and excitement light up Rowe Park
The Spokesman of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode, who represented the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly at the event, has commended the organisers of FirstBank Sporty Lagos 3.0 for delivering a well-coordinated sporting carnival. He also praised the Lagos State Governor for his continued support of sports development and the entire Lagos State sports ecosystem.
Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour,at the event held at Rowe Park sporting complex on December 20th, 2025 Hon. Ogundipe expressed appreciation to Mr. Atewogboye Adebanji (Skibanj), Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Development to the Lagos State Governor, for his dynamic contributions to grassroots sports development across the state. He lauded Skibanj’s focus, resilience, and innovative approach in initiating impactful sporting programmes despite limited resources, providing young talents with platforms to discover, develop, and showcase their abilities.
“As an indigene of Oshodi, I am proud of the achievements of my brother, Skibanj, who consistently thinks outside the box to complement the efforts of the Lagos State Governor,” he stated.
Hon. Ogundipe further advocated the need for Local Government and Local Council Development Area (LCDA) chairmen to build, rehabilitate, and maintain sports facilities within their respective domains. He emphasized that accessible sporting infrastructure would enable youths and adults to engage in productive activities close to home. According to him, sports and regular exercise not only help steer young people away from social vices but also serve as pathways for talent development and the grooming of future champions.
He assured stakeholders of his commitment to initiating and supporting legislative bills aimed at creating an enabling environment for sportsmen and women to discover, nurture, and elevate champions who will represent Lagos State and Nigeria across various sporting disciplines.
In his personal capacity, Hon. Ogundipe also made a financial donation to support the continuity of Sporty Lagos as a bi-annual event, where sports enthusiasts across Lagos can converge to showcase their skills, network, and expand their sporting horizons.
FirstBank Sporty Lagos 3.0, held at Rowe Park, marked the third edition of the annual sporting carnival. The event featured a wide range of indoor and outdoor sports open to participants of all ages. This year’s edition recorded remarkable success as FirstBank, in collaboration with the Lagos State sports family, introduced various sporting activities including video games, darts, five-a-side football exhibitions, scrabbles and more. Winners emerged across different categories and were presented with prizes at the conclusion of the event.
