The five-day community impact programme facilitated by the Ewu Ward Councillor, Hon. Adegboyega Rashidat Adewusi, in collaboration with Ara Care and Shared Initiatives, commenced on Monday, December 15, 2025, with Day One of the exercise tagged “Clean Up Ewu.”

The clean-up exercise was supported with a compactor truck provided by Pepat Tech, alongside its staff, who actively participated throughout the duration of the exercise.

Members of Ara Care and Shared Initiatives covered several streets within Ewu Ward, including Aina, Abiodun, Subairu, Bello, Oluwanishola, Arowojobe, Atanda, Babayanju, Olusoji Sofoluwe, Akanni Showunmi, and Oba Elewu Road.

Residents of the community expressed delight at the high level of commitment and care demonstrated by Hon. Adegboyega Rashidat Adewusi in promoting environmental cleanliness. Many community members joined the exercise, actively participating in the clearing and proper disposal of refuse.

Beyond refuse disposal and environmental sanitation, the exercise provided an opportunity for Hon. Rashidat to interact directly with residents and sensitize them on proper waste management practices. During these interactions, some residents raised concerns about the irregularity of refuse collection by the waste management operator in the ward. Hon. Rashidat appealed for patience, explaining that efforts were ongoing to address the challenges. She also noted that accumulated refuse in some areas was linked to non-compliance with waste bill payments by some households.

She advised residents in such categories to engage the refuse operator for amicable resolution, stressing that collective responsibility was necessary to prevent a potential public health crisis in the ward.

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Hon. Saheed Animashaun, joined the Ara Care and Shared Initiatives team at Bello Street to lend moral support to the programme.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Animashaun described the initiative as commendable, emphasizing that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility. He further urged residents to uphold high hygiene standards, especially as the yuletide season approaches.

As Day One of the five-day programme concluded, Hon. Adegboyega Rashidat Adewusi expressed appreciation to the Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Oloyede, for his exemplary leadership and commitment to the development of Oshodi-Isolo. She also thanked residents for their cooperation and acknowledged the Elewu of Ewu, Oba Shakiru Kuti, for his royal blessings and guidance.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Ara Care and Shared Initiatives, Hon. Ola Habeeb, announced that the programme would continue on Tuesday, December 16, with a medical outreach. He noted that the outreach would be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, without bias, at the Oba Elewu Palace by 10:00 a.m., and urged residents to remain peaceful and orderly.
