Clerics, Christian Leaders Preach Faith and Harmony at Lawrence Olanrenwaju foundation ramadan Lecture in oshodi-Isolo LG

The Lawrence Olanrewaju Foundation on Saturday, March 7, 2026, hosted a spiritually enriching Ramadan Lecture and Iftar programme at the Fatix Event Center, Oja-Oke, Mafoluku in Oshodi, Lagos, drawing a large gathering of religious leaders, community stakeholders and residents.

The event, which witnessed a capacity attendance, was marked by messages of faith, unity and compassion as participants reflected on the spiritual significance of the holy month of Ramadan.

A key highlight of the programme was the remarkable demonstration of interfaith harmony, as Christian leaders under the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), led by Rev. Adelumina and Pastor Jay Olu Samosa, joined Muslim clerics in offering opening prayers for peace and progress. Their participation echoed the Qur’anic message that humanity was created in different communities to promote understanding and mutual respect.

In his remarks, the Chief Missioner of the Council of Chief Imams in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government and Chief Imam of Ajumoni Central Mosque, Alhaji Abdul-Waheed Melemuku, urged Muslims to remain steadfast in prayers and strengthen their faith in Allah.

He reminded the audience that Ramadan is a sacred period for spiritual purification and renewed devotion, referencing the Qur’anic injunction that fasting was prescribed for believers so they may attain righteousness (Qur’an 2:183).

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Council of Chief Imams, Oshodi/Isolo/Ejigbo, and Chief Imam of Mafoluku Central Mosque, Alhaji Mushafau Penpe Aregbe, called on Muslims to continue promoting love, tolerance and kindness within their communities.

He commended the chief host, Lawrence Olanrewaju, a Christian, for organising a Ramadan programme that supports the Muslim faithful, describing the gesture as a reflection of compassion and community spirit. He cited the saying of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that a true believer does not eat to satisfaction while his neighbour goes hungry.

Delivering the keynote lecture, Mr. Kunle Adegbenro, a respected scholar and lecturer in a Nigerian tertiary institution, spoke extensively on the theme “Hope for the Future: Building a Better Life After Ramadan.”

According to him, the essence of Ramadan lies not only in fasting but in sustaining the discipline, faith and moral values cultivated during the holy month. He encouraged participants to allow the lessons of patience, charity and humility learned during Ramadan to guide their daily lives beyond the fasting period, noting that Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change what is within themselves (Qur’an 13:11).

In his address, the chief host Lawrence Olanrewaju called for continued peaceful coexistence among Muslims and Christians, stressing that unity and mutual respect are essential for sustainable community development.

He urged residents of Oshodi-Isolo to shun violence and work collectively for the progress of their community and the nation, adding that citizens must play active roles in strengthening democratic participation and national development. He implored them to vote enmass for the re-election of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed tinubu as President in the coming general election to support his vision of building a greater Nigeria of our dream

The Iyaloja-General of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Chief Mrs. Ejide Soko-Pa, also appreciated residents for their contributions to the growth of commerce in the area and encouraged continued support for initiatives that promote economic development.

Providing spiritual counsel at the event, the guest cleric Sheikh Muhammad Jamiu Ajadi Sanusi (Ami-Olorun) offered prayers for Nigeria, Lagos State and the Oshodi-Isolo community. He reminded participants that ultimate authority belongs to Allah alone, citing the Qur’anic verse which states that when Allah decrees a matter, He simply says “Be,” and it comes to pass (Qur’an 36:82).

As part of the humanitarian outreach of the programme, more than 5,000 Ramadan gifts and Iftar packages were distributed to attendees. Beneficiaries commended the Lawrence Olanrewaju Foundation for the generous gesture and its commitment to supporting communities during the holy month.

Among dignitaries present were Alhaji Musiliu Oluomo, His Royal Highness Alhaji Jimoh Adebayo (Oba Imedun Nla of Mowe), Alhaji Kehinde Olorunoje, Alhaji Maroof Olawale Kolapo, Alhaji Imam Abdul Wasiu Daud, members of various Asalatu groups, community development associations, CAN representatives, market leaders, and other notable stakeholders.

The organisers also ensured adequate security and welfare arrangements, making the gathering peaceful and memorable while reinforcing the core values of Ramadan—faith, charity, unity and hope for a better future.
