The decision was reached at the committee’s meeting held on Saturday, with the schedule outlining key dates leading to the commencement of the new football calendar.
According to the timeline, registration for participating clubs will run from March 9 to March 23, 2026, after which the draw ceremony and media briefing will take place on April 2, 2026. The league is expected to officially kick off on April 11, 2026.
A total of 20 clubs will battle for honours in the men’s competition. The teams will be divided into two conferences — Atlantic and Mainland — with 10 clubs in each group.
In the women’s division, 16 teams will compete, also split into the Atlantic and Mainland conferences as the organisers continue to strengthen the structure of the competition.
Chief Operating Officer of the league, Musbau Oseni, revealed that clubs in the men’s category will pay a registration fee of ₦250,000, while teams in the women’s league will register with ₦150,000.
Oseni explained that player registration will be carried out both online and physically, urging clubs to complete their documentation within the stipulated period, as late entries will not be accepted.
He further noted that the top two teams from each conference in both the men’s and women’s competitions will advance to the season-ending Super Four, while the bottom two teams in each conference will face relegation.
As part of preparations for the new campaign, the league management has scheduled a seminar for participating clubs on April 8, 2026, where discussions will centre on medical procedures, insurance policies and officiating standards.
Among the clubs expected to feature in the men’s division are defending champions Arubinjaga FA, Utmost FC, Unizee FC, Ibeju Lekki United, Young Strikers FC, Bucknor FC, Team 360 FC, FC Heritage and Chekas Feeders.
In the women’s category, defending champions CATS Ladies will be joined by Victory Queens, FC Phoenix, Unification Talents, Unizee Shella FC and Victorious Angels, among others.
The announcement signals the official countdown to another season of competitive grassroots football across Lagos, with clubs and fans already looking forward to the action-packed campaign.
