APC Members Stage Protest at Lagos Secretariat, Demand Justice Over Primaries
Thousands of members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) converged on the party's state secretariat along Acme Road, Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, to demand justice, fairness and equity in the aftermath of the party's recently concluded primary elections.
The protesters, who came from different local government areas across the state, gathered under the watchful presence of officers of the Nigeria Police Force deployed to maintain law and order around the party headquarters.
As of the time of filing this report, none of the state executive members of the APC had emerged to address the aggrieved party faithful, who displayed placards expressing dissatisfaction over what they described as alleged irregularities and manipulations in the conduct of the primaries.
Speaking with DD MEDIA INSIGHT, Saka Tomori, a member of the APC in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, alleged that members of The Mandate Movement had been unfairly treated and shortchanged by leaders of the Justice Forum tendency within the party.
He, however, expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other eminent leaders and stakeholders of the APC would intervene to ensure justice prevails.
Tomori further stated that party members in Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I are anxiously awaiting the leadership's final decision on the Lagos State House of Assembly primary election, maintaining that Otunba Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode emerged victorious in the contest but alleging that certain elements within the party were working to undermine the outcome.
Despite the heavy police presence at the Acme Road secretariat, the demonstrators remained peaceful, chanting solidarity songs and using music provided by a disc jockey to sustain the momentum of the protest while reiterating their demands for transparency and fairness within the ruling party.
