 MANDATE MOVEMENT REAFFIRMS LEADERSHIP IN OSHODI-ISOLO LG, BACKS TINUBU, HAMZAT AND HON.OGUNDIPE

The Mandate Movement in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government on Saturday, June 20, 2026, held an emergency stakeholders' meeting at Ewenla Nursery and Primary School, where members unanimously reaffirmed the leadership structure of the group and dismissed what they described as misleading narratives and false claims credited to some politicians in the local government whom they said lacked the moral authority and locus standi to speak on behalf of the movement.

The gathering also reaffirmed its unwavering support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, endorsed Dr. Femi Hamzat as the preferred governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and maintained that Hon. Stephen Olukayode Ogundipe remained the authentic winner of the APC primary election for Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I.

The meeting, moderated by Elder Bakare Emos, commenced with a minute of silence in honour of the late APC Women Leader in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Alhaja Modina Laniyan Ibrahim, who passed away a night before the meeting. Members prayed for the repose of her soul and asked God to grant her family, friends and associates the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Addressing the congress, Hon. Seyi Fatoki explained the purpose of the gathering and dismissed what he termed the "fake narratives" concerning the leadership of the Mandate Movement in Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I. He alleged that the claims were being propagated by Mr. Bayo Jimoh, whom he described as an associate of the Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Oloyede, in an attempt to garner sympathy following the outcome of the recent APC primary election.

According to him, the allegations were false and contrary to the realities within the group. He subsequently refreshed members' memories with what he described as documentary evidence on the evolution of the movement and reaffirmed the leadership of Alhaji M.A. Taiwo, a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), as well as the coordinator of the group, Alhaji Kehinde Olorunoje.

Speaking on behalf of the women wing of the movement, Mrs. Iyabo Olayori-Rahman, popularly known as Iyagbogbo, and a veteran grassroots mobiliser from Shogunle Ward, expressed displeasure over what she described as attacks and falsehood allegedly propagated by Mr. Jimoh Adebayo a traditional ruler in Imedu Nla , Obafemi Owode LG, Ogun state . She advised him to concentrate on the affairs of his traditional institution and refrain from interfering in the political dynamics of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I.

Former Supervisory Councillor and grassroots politician, Idowu Ishola, alleged that the recent controversies were symptomatic of what he described as the dictatorial style of administration of the Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Oloyede. He claimed that party structures and positions had increasingly been subjected to undue influence and cited the alleged disregard for the list of supervisory councillors submitted by the party hierarchy.

As rain clouds gathered and the weather became unfavourable, members reconvened at a hall off Sehinde Calisto Street, where deliberations continued.

In his remarks, the Coordinator of the Mandate Movement in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Alhaji Kehinde Olorunoje, maintained that there was no leadership crisis within the group and urged members of the public to disregard what he described as distractions from individuals seeking relevance. He alleged that some politicians had tied their political fortunes to the current council administration, whose tenure, according to him, would soon expire, while the ideals and philosophy of progressive politics and the Mandate Movement would endure.

He further accused the council chairman of deviating from the tenets of progressive politics and questioned the hostility allegedly directed at Hon. Stephen Ogundipe and Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, despite their support for the chairman's second-term ambition. He also appealed to Comrade Ogunsakin, Sunday Akinwale and others to desist from actions capable of causing division within the progressive family in Oshodi-Isolo LG urged them to either be a justice or Mandate member and not standing aloof as propagandist of fake narratives .

Also speaking, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo and President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), cautioned Jimoh Adebayo against making inflammatory statements and attacking APC leaders in Oshodi-Isolo. He urged the state and national leadership of the party not to be swayed by what he described as desperate attempts by some individuals to pursue personal interests.

He reiterated that Hon. Stephen Ogundipe remained the authentic winner of the APC primary election for Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I, adding that those who had previously fought for others to secure return tickets despite political differences would equally stand by Ogundipe.

The meeting also unanimously endorsed Samson Agbetoye as the leader of the Mandate Movement in Shogunle Ward, while existing ward coordinators across the local government were reaffirmed in their positions.

Apologies were received from Hon. Akeem Sokunle, Kayode Tinubu and Mrs. Modupe Islamiyat-Badmus through their representatives.

The meeting witnessed a massive turnout of party faithful and stakeholders, who overwhelmingly passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the Mandate Movement in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, reaffirming their commitment to the ideals and unity of the progressive family.
