Hundreds Benefit as Ope-Oluwa CDA, LUTH Pakoto Annex Provide Free Healthcare in Ogun

Residents of Ope-Oluwa Community Development Association (CDA) and neighbouring communities in Sango, Ogun State, turned out in large numbers to benefit from a free medical outreach organised to improve access to quality healthcare and support vulnerable members of the community.

The one-day outreach, held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, was organised by the Ope-Oluwa CDA in partnership with the LUTH Annex Pakoto Outreach, Ifo, Ogun State. The initiative attracted hundreds of residents who received free medical consultations, blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, health education, and prescribed medications at no cost.

Medical personnel at the outreach attended to a wide range of health concerns, with malaria, hypertension and diabetes emerging as the most common conditions diagnosed during the exercise. The programme particularly benefited elderly residents, nursing mothers, children and low-income earners who had early access to the free healthcare services.

Speaking during the event, Chairman of Ope-Oluwa CDA, Mr. Abiodun Odebunmi, said the outreach formed part of activities marking the first anniversary of the current executive committee. He noted that the initiative reflected the association's commitment to giving back to the community through impactful programmes.

According to him, although the CDA had organised similar interventions in the past, this year's edition was more extensive, with beneficiaries receiving not only medical examinations but also free medications and professional healthcare advice.

"A healthy community is the foundation of sustainable development. This outreach is our way of appreciating residents for their support over the past year while promoting healthier living," Odebunmi stated.

The CDA chairman also commended the medical team from the LUTH Annex Pakoto Outreach for their dedication and selfless service, describing their contribution as invaluable to the success of the programme.

Other executive members of the association present at the event included the Vice Chairman, Mr. Kayode Zacchaeus; Secretary, Mr. Roheem Muhideen; Financial Secretary, Mrs. Mojisola Ajao; Treasurer, Mr. Adeleye Isaiah; Women Representative, Mrs. Asimiyu Adijat; Youth Representative, Mr. Ajose Hafiz; Auditor, Mr. Osatimehin Ola; Welfare Officer, Mr. Wasiu Ajayi; Public Relations Officer I, Mr. Kazeem Logunleko; and Social Secretary, Mrs. Babalola Eunice.

The medical outreach was led by Dr. Adams Aliyu, Dr. Tagwaye Deborah, and Dr. Adaramola S.O., alongside a dedicated team of doctors, nurses and pharmacists. Also on ground were Mrs. Akinpelu Bukola, Head Nurse of LUTH Pakoto Annex, Ifo, Ogun State, as well as Mr. Saka Olatunji and Mr. Stanley Derickson, who joined other healthcare workers in delivering the free medical services.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of beneficiaries, Mrs. Olatunji Modupe Christiana described the initiative as timely and impactful, noting that the free consultations and medications had eased the financial burden many families face due to the rising cost of healthcare.

The outreach reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between community associations and healthcare institutions in expanding access to essential medical services and improving the wellbeing of underserved communities.
