Health for All : Hon.Ogundipe Rallies Experts for Life-Saving Cancer Sensitisation in Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1

The anticipated cancer awareness and outreach programme by surgil in collaboration with Omojomolo Cares facilitated by Hon.Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode member of lagos state house of Assembly Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1 was held at All Saints Anglican Church in Mabayoje Street oshodi on 8th November, 2023 .
In his welcome address, Mr. Fatai, the Personal Assistant to Hon. Ogundipe, stated that beneficiaries of the program were drawn from various stakeholder groups within the constituency as well as individuals who registered online. He assured participants that everyone would be attended to by the consultants and urged them to follow the procedures outlined for the event.
In his opening remark , Hon. Ogundipe reiterated the reason for the program is to sensitize our mothers and daughters on importance and advantage to confirm their breast cancer status, be more informed on beeast cancer , causes ,prevention , treatment etc .
He emphasised on his commitment to ensuring the best of quality service to the advancement of the people and the constituents. He stated that over forty five specialist doctors from lagos state University teaching hospital were part of this historic outreach in oshodi .
He advised people not to compromise on their health and always take advantage of programs such as this and other health programs by the lagos state government. He briefly enumerated efforts of the lagos state house assembly and lagos state government efforts on improved and affordable health service for lagos residence .
He urge nigerians to continue to support Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration in his efforts to make our nation great again and assured them of betters days is at hand in Nigeria
He however promise, to organise same program in the wards across the constituency to further sensitize the community and appreciates everyone who contributed to the success of the program especially the all Saints Anglican Church despite short notices granted his request to use the church clinic .
The surgical interest group lagos, led by their president oluwadarasimi Adegboyegun enlighten the participants with practical and simplified explanations on causes, prevention and early detection of lumps and breast cancer with question and answer session
Hon.samuel Olu apata member lagos state house of Assembly somolu 2 , appreciated Hon.Ogundipe for the quality of the outreach programme organised at Oshodi-Isolo constituency 1 and promised to replicate same template soonest in somolu constituency 2 .
He however appeal to young ladies not to see this type of program for the aged only but they should check their status because the ealier it detected the better for the treatment .
Razak Lawal a consult surgeon Lagos state University teaching hospital , advised mothers to always be magnimus with their husband with their boob's which can also aid to detect any unusual lumps.
Also speaking, President of the Surgical Interest Group Lagos, Oluwadarasimi Adegboyegun, advised women to make regular breast checks a routine health practice. She emphasized that, “it is scary when people discover they have cancer, but early detection can save lives. Women, especially older ones, should undergo a mammogram test at least every three years, while younger women should make regular self-examination and clinical checks part of their health routine. Take advantage of outreach like this , the earlier it is detected, the better for treatment. Even when confirmed as cancer, there are medical options and modern treatments to manage it.”
Amos Bakare , a grassroots politician in Oshodi community lauded the quality displayed at program and hope this would be further taken to other community in Oshodi, to increase the awareness of early detection and confirmation of individual status to erase the fear of the people who are always not concern about their health .
Over 300 hundred participants an off shoot of the ealier 250 slots had close and private interaction with doctors at various sections designed for the program, with necessary drugs dispensed .
The surgical interest group lagos, presented a plaque to appreciate Hon.Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode service to lagos state and his constituency.
Mrs Ogundipe , members and exco of ewutuntun Rotary club, Elder kehinde olurunoje , Emos Bakare, Akinderu Ismail, Idowu Isola , Samson Agbetoye were among dignatries to grace the occasion .
