High Court Dismisses Injunction Against Osolo of Isolo Oba Shekoni
High Court Dismisses Injunction Against Osolo of Isolo Oba Shekoni, Sets Hearing for November 28
A High Court sitting in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, has dismissed an injunction seeking to halt the installation of Oba Issa Abiodun Olakunle Faronbi-Shekoni as the new Osolo of Isolo.
Presiding Judge, Justice Ezekiel Oluwole Ashade, gave the ruling on Monday, 3rd November 2025, describing the application filed by Prince Jimmy Adetokunbo Goloba as lacking sufficient grounds to warrant the restraining order sought.
Prince Goloba had approached the court to stop Oba Shekoni’s installation, urging that the monarch be restrained from parading himself as the Osolo and be removed from the throne entirely.
In a counter-motion, Oba Shekoni through his counsel, challenged the competence of the suit, maintaining that the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter.
After carefully reviewing submissions from both parties, including arguments presented by the claimant’s counsel, Prof. Fagbohun (SAN), Justice Ashade ruled that the claims were not convincing enough to justify an injunction. The judge subsequently dismissed the application but promised to ensure an accelerated hearing of the substantive case.
Following mutual agreement between both counsels, the court adjourned the matter to November 28 and December 5, 2025, for the continuation of proceedings.
It will be recalled that Oba Issa Abiodun Olakunle Faronbi-Shekoni was officially installed as the Osolo of Isolo by the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Hon. Kayode Roberts, during a private ceremony at the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, on March 28, 2025.
His installation followed the passing of the former monarch, Oba Kabir Adelaja Agbabiaka, who joined his ancestors in 2024.
