Women Advocates Push for Inclusion, Back Oseghale for Reps Seat in Isolo LCDA

A non-governmental organisation, Women Advocates, has called the attention of Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, to what it described as growing political imbalance, urging her to intervene by engaging the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II.

In a press statement jointly signed by the Coordinator, Adejoke Olaogun, and the Secretary, Helen Nwachukwu, the group stressed the urgent need to address gender disparity within the political structure of the party in Lagos State.

The organisation noted that women remain underrepresented across party structures and elective positions, particularly during party congresses and primaries across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

According to the statement, deliberate inclusion of women in the political process is essential to achieving balanced representation and strengthening democratic participation at the grassroots level.

The group specifically appealed for support for Agenla Yinka Oseghale as a candidate for the House of Representatives seat in Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II, describing her candidacy as a step toward bridging the gender gap in elective offices.

Women Advocates further urged party stakeholders to embrace inclusivity and fairness in the forthcoming primaries, emphasizing that equitable representation would enhance political development and social progress in the state
